Happy (Almost) Birthday!

Dear LT,

I can't believe it's almost been 3 years since I met you. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember walking into the hospital and within 15 minutes you were born.

They took us back to the nursery window and we got to see you for the very first time.

You were amazing and my heart stopped.

Everyone knew you were coming home with us and they went out of their way to include us in all the beginnings of your life.

I watched your first bath. I cried. You screamed.

Your nurse gave you this cute little mohawk.

Who knew a baby could be born with so much hair?

We watched you and it was fun when people asked which baby was ours.

The realization would hit that you were minutes old and us standing there, fully clothed, obviously not just going through labor. We would giggle as they would walk off and talk.

It didn't matter how or why, all that mattered was that you were ours.

And then we met her.

Nicole.

Your birth mother.

It's not taboo to talk about her. She is just as much a part of our family as you, as us.

She gave us you, our most perfect and precious son.

And words don't describe that gift, her unselfishness, her love for you.

We talk about her with you. You don't understand. But you will. And I hope you will grow up knowing just how much she loves you, how much she sacrificed for you.

We took our first pictures with you.

Such precious memories in that hospital.

We even got to meet your sister Kayleigh. You look just alike.

And now you are almost three.

Such a big and independent little boy.

I'm so very proud of you.

I love you more than you will ever or could ever know.

I am so thankful God chose me for you.

You may be getting bigger (and stronger as you would say).

But you will always be mine and daddy's 'LT' (Little Tike)

We love you...always and forever.
